The Eyebrow

Eyebrows are crucial to communication for Filipinos. Filipinos greet each other with their eyebrows.

Eye contact is established, and then hello is said with raising and lowering the eyebrows. Add in a smile, and you have officially said hello.

This gesture can also be used for a “hey, I need your attention” or “lets get out of here” if used with someone you know and hello isn’t needed to be said. Niña can say all of those things, and also “yes” with just a flick of her eyebrows.

One thing to note, if you stare hard while doing this then throw your head back as soon as you lower your eyebrows - this is an aggressive movement saying “What in the hell do you want!?!”
